Welcome to TMCnet, The Social Network for Mudders
TMCnet is a full-featured Social Network designed to tighten the
bonds of the many people within the mud community. The Mud Connector website is about
muds, the muds you run and the muds you play; TMCnet is all about You!
For those of you new to
Online Social Networking in general, a definition to help is 'software
designed to help build friendships and help the community to connect'.
TMCnet does this through a rich set of features which include:
- Friends Lists - Browse member profiles and find people with similar interests to invite to be your friend. Friendships ( 2-way friends ) have access to additional features.
- Share Images - Upload and share images with the community
- Journal Entries - Create entries in your personal journal which can be shared by the public, friends-only, groups-only or for just yourself. Think of your journal as your online diary, allowing the mud community a glimpse into your thoughts and ideas.
- Groups - Create your own groups devoted to a theme or topic of your choice, and/or join existing groups. Groups can be public, private or semi-private. Groups have their own Journal as well and entries posted to a group's journal can have a variety of privacy options based on the group overall setting and on an entry-by-entry basis.
- Forums - As a member in TMCnet you have your very own forum to post about topics of your choice. Groups also have their own forums.
- Bookmarks - Share your favorite websites with the mud community or just your friends
- Events - Create events which TMCnet members can read about and join. is your mud hosting a festival or having a guest speaker, put it up on the TMCnet calendar for all to attend.
- Messaging - Send mail to other TMCnet members or if you don't wish to be bothered set your privacy setting to not receive mail, the choice is yours. Instant Messaging will be available soon.
We invite you to activate your TMC member account and start playing
around with the website, but to help get you started here are some tips.
Friends
The Friends list is the core of TMCnet.
You may already know some of the members in TMCnet, or you may
be looking to meet people with similar interests and add them to your
Friends list. You can find all of the network members easily by clicking
View Members in the
top navigation bar. You can access a member's full profile ( or at least
what they have made accessible ) by clicking on their Avatar image
or the linked text below it which says '[View Profile]'. Another great
way is to browse the profiles of your existing friends list and seeing
members they have in their Friends lists, as they may also share interests
with you.
Groups
Groups are a great way to organize discussion among some or many
different TMCnet members who share a common interest, for example
mud administrators and players for a specfic mud may create a group
in TMCnet devoted to the mud. Groups have access to their own
Forum and group members can contribute to the group's journal.
- Public Groups are accessible to everyone, anyone can join them, anyone
can post journal entries and topics in the group forums and comment
on entries and topics.
- Semi-Private Groups are browsable by everyone, journal entries are
accessible depending on the created entry's privacy settings, and topics
can be read by everyone but only group members may post or comment.
- Private Groups are only accessible to group members, non-group members
will not even see these groups in the Groups listings.
Bookmarks
What better way to express yourself than to share the websites that
you visit frequently with the rest of the TMCnet community. Post as many
as you like.
Images
Posting images is a great way to help other members visualize your
life. Share images of your pets, children, home town, or even something
as simple as the chair and computer you sit at to mud. Note: Images
of a pornographic nature ( including nudity or depicting sexual acts )
are expressly forbidden and will result in suspension of your account
and/or access to TMC
This guide is a work in progress, please feel free to suggest
additions by mailing them to member Icculus.
Note: TMCnet is new software and currently running in a live beta test
mode. Bugs happen and you may see some or many ranging from unexpected
behavior in the page to a loud and angry error message on your screen.
Please mail any errors you see to admin@mudconnect.com.
